Transport Mode

• As an example, consider a Telnet session within an ESP packet in transport mode

  • The IP header would contain 51 in the Next Header field
  • In the ESP header, the Next Header field would be 6 for TCP
  • Within the TCP header, Telnet would be identified as port 23
