Authentication Header (AH)

• Authentication is based on the use of a Message Authentication Code (MAC)

• The two parties must share a secret key.

• Uses the following elements to guarantee data integrity

  • Payload length
  • SPI
  • Sequence number
  • Integrity Check Value (ICV) or Message Authentication Code (MAC)
