Projects

Project activities

Starting from 1999 CEENet is regularly engaged in various telecommunication and education related projects. These are usually either FPx (typically infrastructure or network application deployment) or Grundtvig (usually in the field of e-learning applications) EC funded projects or the so-called NIGs "Network Infrastructure Grants" funded by NATO (e.g. CERTs and NetAcademy alliance creation). In few cases CEENet realized projects funded by OSI (e.g. NREN Creation Handbook), UNDP (e.g. UZSCINET and AzNET assessment) or ENISA (e.g. Russian version of CERT Creation Handbook).

Projects are generally very welcome by the members of the CEENet and recently there is a greater interest in projects than in organization of workshops and trainings. CEENet has made among its members a survey of what type of expertise, potential and resources they have. Based on that, CEENet searches through possible project calls by various donors and signals suitable existing possibilities. In case of interest, CEENet may assist a member in grant writing, consortium building and/or with project negotiations and project management if the application was successful. Alternatively, on request of its member NREN (or its beneficiary), CEENet may test viability of a project idea and its funding by various donors. In some cases our projects, are simply a feasibility study of a subsequent larger regional project (e.g. Porta Optica paved the way to Black Sea Interconnection, TEIN-CA study gave basis to CAREN project, etc.).

In several cases CEENet enters the project consortium itself, either as project partner or project coordinator. In such cases, it usually recruits additional staff members from member organisations. Several members of the CEENet staff have finished courses on how to write a successful grant application, have served as project evaluators and/or reviewers and have a good record in project formulation and successful grant writing.

If you have any project idea, do not hesitate to contact CEENet secretariat (secretary@ceenet.org) to get an advice how to turn your idea into a successful project - you are wholeheartedly welcome!
