CEENet's info about Events

From time to time CEENet organizes (or co-organizes) events devoted to awareness of NRENs, academic networking and other e-infrastructures among the decision makers. One of the early workshops (in 1998) produced the so-called "Tartu Declaration", which was then delivered to many governments raising their attention to importance of academic networks. Even earlier (already in mid 90-s) we helped to formulate an appeal urging governments to include ICT into school education. In 2003 a workshop in Varna, produced several documents, which were instrumental in defining relations between networking communities in developed and developing countries. Similar event is planned for November 2011 and will concentrate on importance of e-Infrastructuresfor countries of Eastern Partnership.

Sometimes CEENet participates in high rank events organized by other parties, trying to attract the attention of the audience to potential and cooperation possibilities existing in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In a recent APAN/APRICOT 2011 meeting in Hong Kong, possibilities of cooperation in the field of telemedicine have been discussed and idea of a common meeting with NRENs of Indochina Peninsula is being designed.
