CEENetAs described in Article 4 of the CEENet statute (you can look also at the German language version) there are two types of membership: 'ordinary' for national networking organizations and 'special' for supporting members.
In order to become a member of CEENet Association one has to:
- get acquainted and accept the statute;
- fill the application.
To become an 'ordinary' member an organization additionally has to:
- appoint the delegate and its deputy;
- write a short form-free letter describing the network situation in the country
and the role of applying organization in the overall situation of academic (or
research or educational) networking;
- present authorization letter from Ministry (or Academy of Science or
Presidential administration, whatever applicable for a given country. Each
country may only be represented within the Association by a single ordinary
member).
The above documents should be sent (or faxed +48 22 6685807) to the CEENet Secretariat or to any of the CEENet Management Committee members.
The yearly membership fee for the ordinary member is defined by the General
Meeting. Currently it is defined by the following, slowly growing, formula:
Membership fee [euro/year] = 250 * 1.1 ** (Host_Count ** 0.25)
where Host_Count is the RIPE host count for the December of the previous year.
Typical examples of membership fees for 2000:
Albania ( 209 hosts) - 359 euro/year
Slovenia ( 22414 hosts) - 802 euro/year
Austria ( 258261 hosts) - 2143 euro/year
If the new country is accepted in first half of the year then its
membership fee
for this year is only half of the sum; if the country is accepted in the second
half of the year then its fee for this year is zero.
For the special (supporting) members the membership fee is different for
non-profit (which includes individuals) and for-profit organizations:
