Organizational structure
The UARNET is a project (not yet a legal body) which runs TCP/IP
backbone in Kiev and Lviv.
Actual topology
Main node is Kiev to which there are lines leading to Lviv, Kharkov,
Sebastopol, and Simferopol. There exist connectivity to Donetsk,
Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozje, Kherson, Nikolaev, Odessa, Iv. Frankovsk and Rivne
too.
Main internationla line connects Lviv with NASK (Poland).
Protocols used
TCP/IP, X.25 and UUCP.
Number of hosts and users
50 institutions, 1 500 users.
Financial sources
No information.
Plans for future:
Upgrade of the line Lviv-NASK to 64 kbps. Lviv-Kiev line will be 2 Mbps. ISF
plans radio links within Kiev.
Main obstacles
Lack of trained personnel. Many competing network organisations.
