Organizational structure

The SANET association is a legal body funded by the Slovak government through Ministry of Education and Sciences.

Actual topology

Two major nodes are Bratislava and Banska Bystrica to which Zilina, Marlin, L. Mikulas, Poprad, Presov, Kosice, Zvolen, Nitra and Trnava are connected. International links to Praha and Vienna.

Financial sources

SANET is financed directly from the state budget (via Ministry of Education and Science) with the annual budget of $ 330 000.

Plans for future:

Upgrade of national backbone to 128 kbps, Prague connection to 256 kbps and the line to Vienna to 128 kbps. Participation in PHARE and COPERNICUS programmes.
